A man has been badly burned while lighting a fire at his home in the central North Island.
The Taihape man, aged in his 50s, suffered multiple flash burns during this morning's incident, the Palmerston North-based Rescue Helicopter said.
He was taken to the Taihape Medical Centre by his wife, where he was treated by staff before being flown to Wanganui Hospital for further treatment.
