Six teens charged for 'vicious' attack

Six teenagers have been arrested and charged after a vicious group attack on a Chinese restaurant worker, which left her unrecognisable.

On December 15, Tian Wang, 23, was attacked soon after she got off a train at the Papakura Station. The New Zealand Herald reported her attack two days later.

Ms Wang suffered serious facial injuries and concussion. She told the New Zealand Herald that as she was beaten, her attackers stole her cellphone and shoes.

Her father Sam Wang, 52, said he did not recognise her when he found her after the attack.

The New Zealand Herald can reveal that six teenagers aged between 13 and 16 have been arrested following the alleged assault.

A Counties Manukau police spokeswoman said all six had been charged with aggravated robbery and remanded to youth justice custody facilities.

They will appear in the Papakura Youth Court on January 8.

"The victim is recovering from her injuries at home but may require further surgery to her face and head," the spokeswoman said.

Ms Wang was found by her father, lying on the ground in the train station carpark.

"Her face was bruised, swollen and covered in blood. I could not recognise her," he said.
