Jet-skiers rescued off Golden Bay

A father and his teenage daughter are safe after they were pulled from the sea when their jet-ski started sinking 2km off the Golden Bay coastline today.

Tasman police spokeswoman Barbara Dunn said the man and girl, who were not wearing lifejackets, were rescued after they got into trouble in the sea at Pakawau, 12km north of Collingwood, on the western side of Golden Bay.

Ms Dunn said the pleasure craft had stopped working and was starting to sink.

She said both riders were ill-prepared for their sea trip and had made a bad decision to head out without life jackets.
