Stabbing charge upgraded to murder

A murder charge has now been laid after a man was found stabbed in a Christchurch street last night.

A 39-year-old man was originally due to appear in Christchurch District Court this afternoon charged with assaulting 41-year-old Andre James Delamare.

But the charge was upgraded to murder late this morning.

Mr Delamare was found lying critically injured in Olliviers Road, Phillippstown, at 6.30pm following what police described as a domestic altercation.

He died in the ambulance on the way to hospital.
