Dunback rider Paul Robinson elected to take a re-ride when the judges decided his first mount did not buck enough, but he could not unseat Scally, scoring 62 to Scally's 64.
Scally's win in the saddle bronc event came after he claimed second place at Millers Flat on Boxing Day and then fourth in the same event at the Omarama Rodeo on Saturday.
Canadian cowboy Kerry LaValley, of Alberta, was third in the saddle bronc with 60.
Heavy rain, which started to fall about halfway through yesterday's scheduled roster of rodeo competitions, did not deter Scally.
''It's the same for everyone. Ideally, it is nice when it's dry, but rain or shine, you got to stay on,'' he said.
The rain made the ground slippery for the horses and this also affected other competitions, such as the barrel-racing and calf-roping events, he said.
Despite the rain, a huge crowd showed up to watch the rodeo in what should be the event's last outing at its traditional home.
It was to be held at the Albert Town Reserve this year, but returned to its old stomping ground in Wanaka after resource consent delays stopped the club from proceeding with building a new venue.
