Entries from Roxburgh and Te Anau will compete with creative locals for the competition's top prize on April 28.
Organiser Deb Husheer said she had been impressed in past years by the entries and imagined they would be as good this year but she had not yet seen them.
"There are more than last year entering and there has been great interest from outside of Arrowtown and Queenstown.
"There are a lot of creative people in the area," Ms Husheer said.
The competition, in its third year, runs in conjunction with the town's Autumn festival celebrations which begin in April.
The show will run on both April 27 and April 28 at the Athenaeum Hall, with the judges picking the winner on the final day.
