Last week, the Queenstown Times reported the True South Dining Room, at the Rees Hotel, also received the award.
The annual wine award applauds restaurants with a wine list of more than 100 which accurately match the restaurant and food character.
The Millhouse manager Paul Hignett said the award was in recognition of the extensive list of exceptional wines offered at the restaurant and the work he and the chef team had done matching wine with food.
"The Millhouse menu utilises seasonal, local produce and the menu changes slightly every two to three weeks to reflect produce availability and seasonal freshness.
"To ensure our wine list always complements the menu, we have a focus on local Central Otago and New Zealand wine that matches the tastes of Central Otago on the menu."
There was also a small selection of Australian wines, including shiraz, to cater to the transtasman market, as well as French wines such as syrah, pinot noir and Champagne.
Mr Hignett said he regularly researched new wines from a variety of sources to ensure customers, who came from all over the world, had access to the best wines.
"Good wine shouldn't cost the earth and everyone should be able to enjoy the perfect wine matched with the food on our menu.
"As a trained sommelier, I take great pride in ensuring the wine our guests enjoy matches the food they have chosen and believe the Millhouse wine list perfectly reflects our local Central Otago menu, the ambience of the restaurant and what our guests desire."
