The Wanaka Community Board has adopted the plans and
construction process for the development of four football
fields on Kellys Flat reserve.
The budget for the project is about $600,000, which includes
toilets and field development.
The work will include removing the existing vegetation,
levelling and sowing the site and installing an in-ground
irrigation system. Following consultation with neighbours and
the public, just one person objected to the proposal.
Queenstown Lakes District Council parks manager Gordon Bailey
said steady growth in junior football in Wanaka meant the
sport had preference for the use of Kellys Flat. However,
other sporting codes would not be precluded.
