A rider is dead after the motorcycle they were on collided with a van on the Crown Range road this afternoon.
Police were called to the scene midway between Wanaka and Queenstown just before 5pm.
It is not known if the rider was a man or woman.
The road is closed and motorists will need to use State Highway 6 via Cromwell until it is reopened.
