The traditional white Christmas turned a few shades of blue and had the audience laughing uproariously when Santa's Sack - An Unconventional Comedy Christmas Gala debuted in the Queenstown Memorial Centre on Friday night.

The saucy M-rated tone was set from the start when singers Nicole McLean, Lisa Moore and Fiona Stephenson dressed in Chicago style corsets and stockings to tease Santa and the audience.

Queenstown's issues, reputation, cost of living, personalities and media, Wanaka and more were satirically skewered by Mike Legge's stand-up comedy routine and new and re-arranged songs, all with a festive theme.

A sketch involving a typical family unwrapping their presents on Christmas morning was made hilarious when characters told the audience what they really thought about their gift.

The Whirlwind Productions show, supported by Flame Entertainment and the Queenstown Community Choir, involved supper and a dance party afterwards.

About $5000 was raised to feed needy families in the Wakatipu over Christmas.
