It had to be cut into 18 pieces to get it there, but the former Glenorchy school house has a new home in Paradise.
The 102-year-old building has been trucked about 20km up the valley to the Paradise Trust property, where it will be used as a function and meeting centre.
Overseeing the project is Glenorchy builder Mike Kingan, who said the process of cutting up, moving and reassembling the building took four days. The roof was reinstated on Saturday.
The school house was initially cut into three pieces in the hope they would pass through the forested section of the road to Paradise. However, they ''didn't fit'', requiring them to be cut into 18 pieces and laid flat on their trailers.
''There are a lot more cuts to tidy up, but that will just be part of the story of the building,'' Mr Kingan said.
It would take another fortnight to fill the gaps and paint the building inside and out.
The school house relocation is one of three building projects undertaken to fill the void left by a fire that destroyed the trust's historic homestead in May.
The trust aims to have all three projects finished by the end of this month.
