Southern glow at World Ski Awards

A Wanaka skifield and three Queenstown accommodation providers took top honours at the second annual World Ski Awards in Kitzbuhel, Austria, at the weekend.

Treble Cone was announced as New Zealand's best ski resort, a back-to-back win, it having been the inaugural recipient last year.

Also recognised at the awards were the Crowne Plaza Queenstown, which was announced as New Zealand's best ski hotel, Queenstown's Eichardt's Private Hotel was New Zealand's best boutique ski hotel, and the Azur Luxury Lodge, also in Queenstown, New Zealand's best ski chalet.

Eichardt's and Azur also won their respective categories last year.

The World Ski Awards is the only global initiative to recognise, reward and celebrate excellence in ski tourism and has categories for each of the world's top 21 ski tourism nations.
