Blasting work finished at Nevis

Blasting work at the Nevis Bluff, between Queenstown and Cromwell on State Highway 6, was complete, the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) advised yesterday.

While works, including scaling and rock bolt stabilisation, would continue on the site until April 9, the extended one-hour traffic delays and blasting works had finished.

NZTA Central Otago Area engineer John Jarvis said work would continue between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, with openings for traffic every hour on the hour.

Between regular openings there would be traffic delays of up to 20 minutes, he said.
