A pine plantation on a farm near Palmerston has been handed
back to the farm's owner, who will now keep a watch in case a
fire, which broke out on Saturday, starts again.
Fire appliances from Waikouaiti and Palmerston and a Rural
Fire water-tanker were called to a "well-involved" fire in a
Dunback Rd wooden bungalow shortly before 5pm.
One of the few nurse practitioners working in general
practice in the South Island, Anne Fitzwater, has started
work at the East Otago health centres at Palmerston and
Waikouaiti.
