A climber stranded in a hut high on Aoraki/Mt Cook with a
suspected collapsed lung will probably have to spend another
night there as forecast bad weather prevents any rescue
attempt.
Rescuers have received confirmation the two climbers who
spent two nights on Mt Cook/Aoraki in sub-zero temperatures
are safe and due to walk out of the national park today.
A new method of setting rents on Crown-owned pastoral lease
farms, based on their earning capacity, would honour existing
property rights and existing contracts with lessees, high
country farmers were told yesterday.
