New Year Honours

Helen Clark tops the New Year Honours, being appointed a member of the Order of New Zealand (ONZ) and filmmaker Peter Jackson is made a Knight.

When Judge Bruce Robertson received recognition in the New Year's honours for services as a judge of the High Court and the Court of Appeal, he also became the second milk monitor from the 1954 standard 3 class at Wakari School to be knighted.

John McLellan is not one for a fuss. Ask him what he thinks of receiving the Queen's Service Medal for services to marine search and rescue, and the 82-year-old Moeraki identity responds, "I thought that sort of thing was wiped long ago."

QUEEN'S SERVICE MEDAL (QSM)

Passion for her family and her community has resulted in Helen Huddleston (61) receiving the Queens Service Medal.

Through supporting her children in their interests, and her friends and neighbours in their every day activities, Mrs Huddleston has performed a variety of volunteer roles.
