New Zealanders have unwittingly tried to launder money for international scammers in the latest version of the "mystery shopper" scam.

Another email scam is circulating New Zealand, this time targeting lawyers.

A Dunedin woman is warning people to be wary of telephone scammers who claim to be from the Department of Internal Affairs.

People are being warned to be vigilant as government departments learn of phone and email scammers.

People needed to be aware about the inherent dangers of providing credit card details, or personal details, to strangers either by email or online, Kingston and Frankton Community Constable Zoe Albon said.
