Mount Aspiring College band Colour Classic celebrated its
third consecutive win at the Central Otago Smokefreerockquest
in Wanaka on Friday night, albeit with a different look and
sound from its first two victories.
More than 60 bands from the Otago region will be aiming their
unique sounds at a mosh pit at this year's Smokefreerockquest
in a bid to strum up more than $20,000 worth of recording
opportunities and musical equipment.
Stay focused, listen to your band mates and perform for your
audience, are the words of advice given by the co-director of
Smokefreerockquest to high school acts entering the Central
Otago regional final in Queenstown tomorrow night.
Four Wakatipu High School acts practised their original songs
on Friday night, in preparation for the Smokefreerockquest
2010 Central Otago regional final, on Saturday.
Almost 20 musical acts from high schools around the Southern
Lakes and Central Otago will vie for $1150 worth of musical
equipment and a shot at the national final's grand prizes at
the weekend, in the Smokefreerockquest 2010 Central Otago
regional final.
