Listed energy company Vector has won a significant High Court
ruling that will send the Commerce Commission back to the
books in determining the earnings of monopolies like
electricity companies and gas networks.
Electricity lines company Vector was being overly optimistic
to think it still had a realistic chance of being part of the
Government's ultra-fast broadband (UFB) initiative, Forsyth
Barr broker Suzanne Kinnaird said.
Changes to the rules surrounding the Government's rural
broadband initiative (RBI) could cause a battle for market
supremacy between Telecom and Auckland-based energy company
Vector.
Energy distribution and fibre optic network company Vector is
estimating a rise in after tax net profit of $20 million in
the year to June 30 as a result of tax changes in the Budget.
Infrastructure company Vector, which owns the Auckland
electricity distribution network, saw a small increase in gas
and electricity customer connections for the nine months
ended March 31.
