The Guggenheim Museum has turned to YouTube to provide the exhibits for an exhibition of digital art.
"At the Guggenheim we're always interest in how to reach the broadest possible audience," deputy director and chief curator Nancy Spector said.
"This collaboration with YouTube gives us a chance to explore digital media and bring it into the museum, to see how it functions - to see if it functions - and in the process learn more about the phenomenon," she said.
200 videos will be selected for the further attention of an international jury of experts from the worlds of art, design, film and video.
Up to 20 videos will be presented at the Guggenheim Museum in New York on October 21, with simultaneous presentations at the Guggenheim museums in Bilbao, Venice and Berlin.
The presentations will also be viewable to on the YouTube Play brand channel at youtube.com/play.
Videos must be submitted to YouTube Play by July 31, 2010 to be considered.
