Toyota caters to adult motorists the world over but the automotive giant is already looking to its next generation of drivers.

At the International Toy Show in Tokyo, the Japanese carmaker is showing off its Camatte57s, a three-seater roadster aimed at children, carbuzz.com reports.

The name is an amalgamation of "Camatte" from the Japanese word for care, "57" which refers to the 57 small, lightweight detachable panels which make up the body, and "s" standing for the Japanese word "sawaru" meaning to touch.

The pedals and seats of the electric-powered child-friendly concept can be adjusted for adults or children, while the detachable panels allow the vehicle be customized in a range of colours and designs.

Children wanting to get behind the wheel are in for a wait, however.  The cars have not been through safety tests, and there is no word as to when they might go on sale.
