Fake cop with gun pulls over Queensland driver

An armed man is on the run after pulling over a car and pretending to be a police officer in Brisbane.

A 29-year-old man was stopped by a white ute flashing its headlights on Turbo Drive, Woolloongabba in Brisbane's inner-south on Thursday night.

The male ute driver approached the man's vehicle and showed him a gun, claiming to be an undercover police officer, police said.

The man was detained for more than an hour before he was told he could leave, but was not injured during the incident.

The fake officer is described as Caucasian, about 182cm tall and blue-eyed.

Police are urging motorists who suspect an unmarked car pulling them over isn't a police vehicle to contact local police or dial triple zero.

They should also pull over in a safe place, keep doors and windows locked or request to see police ID.
