Oamaru's big weekend started on a high with Highlander Ma'a Nonu a crowd favourite after the Highlanders' 38-21 win over the Crusaders in a pre-season Super 15 rugby game in Oamaru last night.

The win was a great curtain-raiser to the town's Scott 100 commemorations this weekend. Oamaru is celebrating the centenary of the arrival of Captain Robert Falcon Scott's ship, Terra Nova, in Oamaru Harbour in 1913, by holding a series of activities and a re-enactment day tomorrow.
