A man is dead following a crash near Duntroon in rural North Otago last night.
Police believe the crash occurred about 11pm when a vehicle travelling on the Tokarahi-Duntroon road left the surface and plunged down a steep gully.
The vehicle was discovered early this morning.
The 47-year-old driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. His name will be released once next of kin have been advised.
No other vehicles were involved.
An investigation is under way.
