Masonic grants worth $72,000

Grants of more than $72,000 are to be made by the Otago Masonic Charitable Trust to community, sporting and educational groups throughout the region this month.About $30,845 is to be granted to 20 Dunedin groups, including $3460 to the Dunedin Lawn Bowls Stadium for a heart defibrillator, $2750 to Roslyn Kindergarten for fencing, $2761 to Pipe and Drums of Dunedin for drums and $3000 to the Fairfield Playcentre for a heat pump.

In South Otago, $9882 was granted to seven groups including $2478 for library tables and chairs for Waihola School and $2129 for a computer program for the South Otago Historical Society.

In Central Otago, 14 groups will benefit from $19,455 in grants, ranging from $200 for Becks/St Bathans Play Group for a label machine to $3000 for Alexandra Plunket's playground.

In North Otago, $12,083 will be granted to seven groups, including $4273 for playground equipment for Totara School and $3100 for a multi-kai cooker for the Oamaru Maori committee.

Grant presentations will be made around the region on June 15.
