Emergency services were called to a crash between a motorcycle and a car outside South Otago High School last evening.

Senior Constable Blair Corlet said a 26-year-old Balclutha man in a Toyota Starlet turning right on to Frances St from South Otago High School was in collision with a motorcycle driven by a 20-year-old Clydevale man at 5.30pm.

The motorcyclist was taken to Clutha Health First by ambulance with suspected chest and leg injuries. The driver of the Toyota was shaken but uninjured. Snr Const Corlet said a member of the public heard a motorcycle travelling at speed a short time before the crash.

The cause of the crash was not yet known and inquiries were continuing, he said.
