A charity horse trek to raise $20,000 for the Breast Cancer Foundation has brought in more than twice that.
The Ride to Recovery trek was the brainchild of Tuturau farmer Johnny Perkins as a tribute to his late wife, Ava, who died of breast cancer.
More than 150 people, their horses and support crew gathered at Earnscleugh Station last November for a 30km day trek to Kawarau Station.
Mr Perkins said this week $40,000 had already been given to the foundation, and this week, after finalising expenses and counting money that had come in since, $6000 more would be sent.
He thanked riders, property owners and sponsors for their generosity.
