Arrest follows car search

A firearm and drug paraphernalia were found when a vehicle was searched in Western Southland last night, police said.

The car was stopped and searched following an incident in Nightcaps. A .22 was discovered in the boot and ammunition in the glove box, Acting Senior Sergeant Jared Kirk, of Dunedin, said.

The driver was also found with drug paraphernalia ''in a point bag, which looks like methamphetamine''.

A 40-year-old Invercargill man was arrested.
