Mother,child flee from burning car

A mother  and her toddler escaped from a fire which destroyed their vehicle yesterday.

Volunteer firefighters were called to Coutts Rd, Gore, following reports a car was on fire, about 10.42am.

The occupants - a woman and her child - escaped from the vehicle, which was starting to burn when the fire brigade arrived.

Gore Volunteer Fire Brigade Chief Fire Officer Steve Lee, of Gore, said six firefighters, including two with breathing apparatus, extinguished the blaze.

No-one was hurt in the incidentThe fire started under a front seat in the vehicle.

The fire was not believed to be suspicious.
