State Highway 6 through the Haast Pass will be closed tonight while contractors attempt to replace the bridge at Diana Falls.
New Zealand Transport Agency regional performance manager Pete Connors said yesterday contractors had been thwarted twice in their attempts to replace the bridge last month, once because of equipment failure and once because of heavy rain.
The last traffic will be released at 3pm at Haast and 3.30pm at Makarora today.
