Move over Nude Blacks.

It's the Wool Blacks.

A group of dyed-in-the-wool rugby fans has been unveiled in Dunedin.

Five sheep at Silverpeaks Lodge, in East Taieri, have been spray-painted in the colours of Rugby World Cup nations New Zealand, England, Italy, Argentina and Romania.

Pippa Lucas and friend Michael Natzke spent an hour painting the sheep on Saturday.

"We thought it would be a fun thing to do for the Rugby World Cup," Ms Lucas said yesterday.

"We wanted to do all the countries that are playing in Dunedin. But, the sheep weren't very co-operative.'Georgia' took off, so we'll have to do him and Ireland later," she said.

The display certainly caught the attention of travelling Argentinian fans, who were flocking to Invercargill for a date with Romania on Saturday, after being fleeced by a late England try at Otago Stadium in their opening match at the weekend.

"I can't believe how many cars have stopped on State Highway 1 to have a look.

"People love them. Everyone's been stopping to check them out," Ms Lucas said.
