Cricket: NZ draw Australia in T20 World Cup

New Zealand will have seen plenty of Australia this summer by the time they arrive in India for the world T20 tournament in March.

There, they've drawn the transtasman rivals again in their pool at the sixth edition of the event, as have New Zealand's women's team.

The draw has also thrown a little extra significance on Pakistan's visit next month.

They'll play three T20 games on tour, at Eden Park, Seddon Park and Westpac Stadium, which could now be construed as leadup to their world tournament clash in Mohali.

The tournaments each comprise 10 teams, split in two pools of five.

New Zealand will start against India at Nagpur on March 15, before facing Australia at Dharamsala three days later.

They continue against 2009 champions Pakistan at Mohali on March 22 and finish pool play against the winners of one of the two preliminary groups, most likely Bangladesh or Ireland, in Kolkata on March 26.

The T20 crown has been won by five countries once - India (2007), Pakistan (2009), England (2010), West Indies (2012), 2014 (Sri Lanka).

The women's event will run concurrently with the men.

New Zealnd start against Sri Lanka in Delhi on March 15, play Ireland in Mohali three days later; Australia at Nagpur on March 21 and South Africa in Banglalore on March 26.

The semifinals in both tournaments are on March 30 and 31, with the two finals on April 3 in Kolkata.
