Sydney FC's marquee man Alessandro Del Piero won't make the
trip across the Tasman to meet the Wellington Phoenix at
Westpac Stadium on Sunday.
The Italian has been battling with a hamstring injury and the
club tweeted today that the 38-year-old wasn't available for
this weekend's game.
"ADP will miss the @SydneyFC clash with Wellington on Sunday.
His fitness will be evaluated next week re the Derby
@AllianzStadium on Dec 15," the club's official Twitter
account posted.
Del Piero's withdrawal is a blow to the Sky Blues who sit at
the bottom of the A-League ladder after nine rounds.
The former Juventus player made his debut for Sydney in
Wellington during the opening round of the season in October
when the Phoenix beat the A-League glamour club 2-0.
The Phoenix are unbeaten during their past three games but
only 5405 people turned out to watch last weekend's dour 1-0
victory over the Western Sydney Wanderers in Wellington, and
Del Piero's scratching will do nothing to boost this
weekend's crowd figure.
