The Becker siblings are expected to dominate the New Zealand
curling championships and retain their titles at the Dunedin
Ice Stadium over the next four days.
Sean Becker's Maniototo team of Scott Becker, Rupert Jones,
Warren Dobson and Warren Kearney finished third at the
Pacific championships in Naseby last November and should have
the edge on their opponents.
The main opposition will come from Dan Mustapic's team that
includes former New Zealand representatives Hans Frauenlob
(Auckland), Rupert Jones (Dunedin) and Lorne De Pape (Te
Awamutu).
But seniors teams skipped by Peter Becker and John Campbell
should not be underestimated.
New Zealand representative Bridget Becker's team is expected
to retain the women's title against teams skipped by her
mother Wendy Becker and Natalie Campbell (Auckland).
The championships start tonight and four games will be played
tomorrow and Saturday.
The semifinals start at 9.30am on Sunday and the final is
scheduled to start at 1.30pm.
