Racing: Jack's Point for Oamaru race

The Awapuni-trained Jack's Point has been entered for the open 1400m at Oamaru on Sunday.

Jack's Point is one of three runners trainer Lisa Latta has entered for the $100,000 Winter Cup at Riccarton six days later.

Latta also has Tick Tock Turbo and Platinum Zana entered for the Winter Cup, a race she won in 2003 with Tuscany Warrior and in 2006 with Mikki Street.

Jack's Point has also been entered for a rating 90 1400m at the Levin meeting at Otaki on Saturday.

He is among four entrants for the Otaki race. The nominations have been held open for the meeting.

Jack's Point had his most recent win in the Summer Cup (1600m) at Awapuni in December.

Tick Tock Turbo has not been successful since he won the open 1400m on the third day of the National meeting 12 months ago. He ran fourth in the Winter Cup a week earlier.

He won a double at the 2009 National meeting and a maiden race there in 2008.

Platinum Zana also had her most recent win at the 2010 National meeting.

Royal Flight, Ishiabeel and Don't Say Clang are other Winter Cup entrants nominated for the Oamaru race.

Lautenschlager has been entered for the maiden steeplechase at Oamaru. The Kelly Thompson-trained gelding has won three hurdles races and seven on the flat, including the 2010 Riverton Cup.

• The competition for a car valued at $34,000 will go to the wire at Oamaru, the final meeting for the season. The contenders are Queen Of The Castle and Miss Maximuss, both progeny of Castledale, who stands at the Te Runga stud of Wayne and Alison Larsen at Papakura.

The stud offered the car for the filly by Castledale with the most points at the end of her 3yr-old racing.

This is the first crop sired by Castledale, winner of the group one Santa Anita Derby and group one Shoemaker Mile at 4.

Points are awarded on the basis of 10 for first, five for second, three for third and one for unplaced.

Queen Of The Castle has a lead of nine points over Miss Maximuss after a win at Waterlea on Sunday. The pair have been entered for the 3yr-old race over 1200m on Sunday.

Miss Maximuss is also in a rating 80 1600m.

• Crocodile Canyon is now trained by Kevin Myers. The Jahafil gelding, who has not raced since January, won five races when trained by Howie Mathews.

Shelby is back in the Wanganui stable of Fraser Auret.

Shelby won the 2010 Waikouaiti Cup within a few days of transferring from Auret to John and Karen Parsons at Balcairn. He won seven races for the Auret stable.
