Sevens: NZ through to Tokyo quarters

New Zealand have beaten Australia 22-10 to advance to the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Sevens rugby tournament.

Tomasi Cama, Bryce Heem, D.J. Forbes and Waisake Naholo all ran in tries in windy conditions as New Zealand wrapped up first place in Pool B.

Gordon Tietjens' side added a 40-0 victory against Hong Kong - with two tries each from Mark Jackman and Waisake Naholo - to a 26-5 win against the United States in the day's opening match.

Current series leaders New Zealand play Argentina in the quarterfinals on Sunday and Australia face Wales, who beat Argentina 17-5.

England defeated Fiji 14-7 in their final pool match to set up a quarterfinal clash with South Africa.

Tom Mitchell and Dan Norton scored two tries in a morale-boosting victory for an England side missing forwards Chris Cracknell and Isoa Damu.

Samoa, who impressed with a 38-7 victory against South Africa in its final pool match, will face Fiji in the quarterfinals.

Tokyo is the seventh of nine rounds in the world series. The Japanese capital is back on the world series as a host city after an 11-year absence.
