Best performance: 21-14, v Hurricanes, final, 2015. When it all went on the line, the Highlanders held their bottle to win the final in Wellington

Best signings
• Aaron Smith came to the franchise as a fresh-faced youngster and in the next six seasons, missed just eight games, completing dominating games at times.
• Lima Sopoaga took his time to get to the top but his last three years have been top of the tree, missing just two games.
• Nasi Manu held the side together in 2011 and was a priceless warrior in the march to the title last year.
• Waisake Naholo was not even first choice at the start of 2015. Scored 13 tries in his first season, a record for the franchise.
Worst signings
• Jake Paringatai signed for one year in 2013 and was anonymous. Too slow as a loose forward and too small (1.85m) as a lock.
• Star signing Ma'a Nonu came, saw and did not deliver in 2013. Only time when he showed any emotion was when asked about his surfing.
• Kurt Baker signed for four seasons and played, all up, 10 games. Never looked anything more than an average club player.
• Matias Diaz came from Argentina in 2014 and then after one season disappeared. Not the prototype Argentinian prop.
Five facts
• The Highlanders have never scored 50 points under Joseph's watch. The last time they scored 50 points was in 2002, or 204 games ago.
• Elliot Dixon played two games in Joseph's first two years. He has missed three in the past three seasons.
• Lima Sopoaga scored 74 points in his first three seasons. He has scored 546 points in his past three seasons.
• Prop Bronson Murray made 25 appearances for Joseph's side in the first three seasons, with 24 of them coming off the bench.
• Every year the side has continued to score more points than the previous whole season, culminating in 2015, scoring 530 points, a franchise record.
