Snow sports: Olympic hopefuls selected

Snow Sports New Zealand has named members of its alpine, freeski and snowboard Youth Olympic Games development squads.

Earlier this year, Snow Sports New Zealand gained support from the International Olympic Committee to run a development programme in the buildup to the 2012 Youth Olympic Games.

Freeski, snowboard and alpine disciplines have all put development programmes in place for their respective squads of Olympic hopefuls.

From these squads, athletes will be put forward for selection by the New Zealand Olympic Committee and those chosen will represent at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games on January 13-22 in Innsbruck.

Snow Sports New Zealand is now looking for athletes to compete in skier cross.

Members selected to the development squads are: alpine, Jamie Green, Harry Izard Price, Justin Kumono, Fraser Hannon, Chelsea Wallace, Rosie Smith, Sophie Corser, Piera Hudson; snowboard, JJ Rayward, Sam Christy, Lyon Farrell, Frazer Dowling, Tim Herbert, Hamish Bagley, Conor Hayes; freeski, Finn Bilous, Hank Bilous, Elliott Mason, Jackson Wells, Raphael Beazley, Rose Battersby, Alec Savery, Toby Dickson and Gracin Meyer Budge.
