Tennis: Illegal betting investigated at Heineken Open

The Tennis Integrity Unit is investigating illegal sports betting at the Heineken Open in Auckland after two spectators were evicted from the stadium.

Newstalk ZB reported today the spectators were spotted in the crowd allegedly using palm type devices to bet on specific points occurring a split second before television viewers saw the action.

A Spaniard was thrown out of last week's ASB Classic and a New Zealander has been ejected from the Heineken Open.

One of the spectators was also sent packing from Wimbledon last year.

Tennis is increasingly in the spotlight with illegal betting in the sport.
