The hard line taken by Clutha police against drugs and drug dealers continued yesterday when six large cannabis plants were seized near Clinton.

Sergeant Martin Bull said a 43-year-old Clinton man was arrested and charged with cultivating cannabis.

Acting on information, police executed a search warrant at a Landslide Rd property and found the plants drying in a shed.

The initial weight of the plants was about 10.4kg, making the haul one of the bigger ones found by police recently.

Inquiries were continuing into whether the man was cultivating the cannabis for his own personal use or had intended to supply it for sale.

The man will appear in the Balclutha District Court on May 19.

Sgt Bull said yesterday's haul was part of an ongoing operation by police to target those involved in drugs locally.
