Stadium taking shape

Work on the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin is progressing.

This aerial photograph, taken yesterday, shows the south stand next to the Water of Leith, rising, while piles are being driven for the north stand.

Logan Park is at the lower right.

There was also a positive signal for the stadium yesterday with the Otago Boys High School Foundation booking the facility for the school's sesquicentennial event in August 2013.

"If it's built, we'll be using it," foundation chief executive Steve Davie said.

The school, which Mr Davie said was the fourth oldest in New Zealand, was expecting up to 3000 people for the event.

The stadium would be used for registration, dinners and a rugby match against Christs College, of Christchurch.

Carisbrook Stadium Trust chief executive Guy Hedderwick said the booking costs for events at the stadium were yet to be decided.

Mr Davie said the foundation was booking other venues, including the Lion Foundation Arena.
