About 20 boats took to Lake Hayes on Saturday in a dinghy regatta to raise funds and support for the Frankton Marina boatshed and ticket office restoration project.
The Wakatipu Community Maritime Preservation Society organised the regatta on Lake Hayes.
Participants donated a gold coin to take part in the regatta.
Spokesman Alan Kirker said it was a good turnout.
He said the day was more about raising support and awareness than cash for the restoration project.
The group aims to raise $700,000 to restore the boatshed and shipping and ticket office to working order as a heritage museum.
The maritime preservation society has applied for community grants and has raised up to $140,000 "in kind" from Queenstown businesses.
