Tickets for Middlemarch's annual matchmaking event go on sale next week.
The popular Middlemarch Singles Ball will take place on April 23 next year, with organisers expecting eager singles and party-goers from all over New Zealand and overseas to attend.
Dunedin City Council events team leader Marilyn Anderson said Middlemarch bachelors faced fiercer competition each year, with an increasing number of men boarding the train from Dunedin and taking advantage of the extra "chat-up" time.
A ticket sales launch will be held at the Dunedin Railway Station at 11am on Monday.
Tickets, $50 for the dance and $90 for the train and dance, will be available from the Dunedin i-SITE, Princes St, and the Middlemarch Police Station.
