Yellow-eyed Penguin Trust staff and volunteers have spent
the past week searching its peninsula reserves for nesting
penguins.
Knowing where the penguins were nesting enabled the trust to
monitor the health of the population.
Trust field manager Dave McFarlane said so far numbers were
similar to last year but the final picture would not be known
until the search had been completed.
Next week the trust was moving on to its South Otago reserve
at Long Point.
