Family fun day ushers in festive season

The festive season will be celebrated at the Remarkables Park Town Centre this weekend with a Christmas-themed family fun day.

Events will begin at noon with a parade around the car park, with Santa taking a break from his hectic schedule to get some Christmas present wishes from Queenstown children.

The entertainment will continue throughout the afternoon with free face painting, a petting zoo, hula hooping and bouncy castles, as well as a performance by the Queenstown School of Dance.

The Magic Guy will perform a show featuring animals, illusions and "balloonology" before Pets on Parade.

Centre manager Joanna Hollander said the idea was to "kick-start the festive season this year with a day everyone can come and enjoy".

Pets on Parade was open to all children and registrations would be taken on the day.

Prizes would be awarded for the best trick, best costume and "best lookalike".

• The event will run from noon to 3pm this Saturday, November 27, in the lower car park outside Smiths City.
