Mapping, property information on website

Locating and mapping properties in the Queenstown Lakes district, finding up-to-date rating information and property values, and viewing the district's underground pipe information is now possible with a new search tool on the Queenstown Lakes District Council website.

The online public mapping and property information tool went live on the site last week and the council hoped it would prove useful for a variety of people.

Council geographic information systems (GIS) manager Ryan Clements said large volumes of data were held in the council's GIS, used to help make better decisions in handling the district and assets.

House hunters, trampers and anglers would enjoy the new high-resolution district-wide aerial photography, while those in valuation, real estate and engineering would also find it useful, Mr Clements said.

Combining legal property boundaries, ownership information and aerial photos would provide a perspective of the district.

"Many parts of the district we are seeing in high resolution for the first time.

"Areas like Mount Aspiring National Park look amazing.

"We have also recently acquired very high-resolution photography of all the townships," he said.

A link to the system can be found at www.qldc.govt.nz via a link called "Mapping/GIS".
