PM's flight for counter-terrorism hui cancelled, fog clearing

A thick blanket of fog in Christchurch has lifted and flights are now landing in the city.

Fifteen arrivals had been cancelled by 9.30am on Tuesday, according to Christchurch Airport flight information.

A Christchurch Airport spokeswoman said the first arrivals of the morning have now landed.

She said there may be delays as airlines reposition aircraft and re-schedule flights.

"We suggest anyone booked on or to meet a flight today contacts the airline."

Jacinda Ardern's flight to Christchurch to attend a counter-terrorism hui was also cancelled.

A spokeswoman for the airport said departures are not affected but arrivals are.

They said the airport is still open but those travelling should check their flight status with the airline.

The garden city was sitting on 6.5C at 7am this morning, with temperatures not dropping below 7C overnight on Monday.

MetService is predicting temperatures will reach 17C in Christchurch on Tuesday,

It is forecasting low cloud and possible drizzle from late evening with a light southwesterly.

MetService predicts rain every day this week.

Temperatures are expected to reach 13C on Wednesday, 11C on Thursday and 10C on Friday.
