Armageddon returns to Christchurch

The pop culture spectacle is back!

Armageddon is returning to Christchurch and the Te Pae Convention Centre this weekend.

Local fans Rolleston couple Jason and Francesca Winiata are getting ready for the big event, and looking forward to help raise funds for a local charity.

They're members of OutPost 42, a Star Wars cosplay charity group that relishes its role as ‘Bad guys doing Good”.

Left destitute after the 2010 Christchurch earthquakes destroyed their home, the Winiatas were overwhelmed by the support and generosity of strangers.

Wanting to return the kindness they received they looked for a charity they could participate in as well as help raise funds.

They are now members of the Christchurch chapter of OutPost 42, a Star Wars Fan club, and appear at charity functions and birthday or special events, where the funds they raise are given to a local charity.

For the Armageddon weekend, they will be raising funds for the Dogwatch Sanctuary Trust, which rescues, retrains and rehomes abandoned and surrendered dogs.
