Garden tours
Guided tours of the lower Dunedin Botanic Garden are held at 10.45am on days when a cruise ship is expected in Dunedin. Occasionally if a ship cancels its visit the morning tours will also be cancelled. Phone 471-9275 to check.

Tours this week: tomorrow 10.45am and 2.30pm; Sunday 2.30pm; Tuesday 10.45am; Thursday 10.45am. Cost $7.

Monday, February 11

Dunedin Vegetable Growers Club, meets at St Clair Women's Club, 47 Albert St, St Clair. Invited speaker Pia Dickhaut on planting by the moon. Club talk, tomatoes. Dunedin Gardening Club meets in the Church of Christ hall, cnr Filleul and St Andrew Sts, 7.30pm. Speaker Yolanda Vanheezik on biodiversity in your backyard. Monthly competitions, Rogers Rose Bowl and spontaneous flower, hydrangea. Inquiries to Midge 488-2796.

Fairfield Garden Club monthly meeting, Fairfield Community Hall, 7.30pm. Speaker: Olwen Smith, on British garden allotments. Competition: rose, herb basket. Sales table and supper. New members welcome.

Friday, February 15
Outram Garden Club flower show, church hall, Holyhead St, Outram. 2pm. Gold coin entry. Raffles and trading tables. Afternoon tea $2.

Saturday, February 16
Blueskin Garden Club meets at 11am at the Russell Rd entrance to the old Seacliff Hospital buildings for tour. All welcome. Bring your own lunch and a cup. Hot drinks provided. Inquiries to 482-2896 or 482-2428.

Outram Garden Club, visit to Taieri Historical Park, members to meet at the hall 6.30pm.

Winter growing workshop, Harvest Community Gardens, Gorge Rd, Queenstown, 6pm-8pm. Learn how to grow hardy winter greens and vegetables from Dr Compost. Techniques to beat Jack Frost and tips on prepping your garden for spring. Gold coin donation.
