Josh Taylor (35) Otago Polytechnic student and Yulia Pchelina (32) PhD candidate at Otago University - Dunedin

When and Where did you meet?

Online, October 2013.

The proposal

Yulia proposed to me at the Graduate Research School Party at the Abbey College, in front of all the Professors and postgrad students at the party on Leap Day (29/02/216). That was a spontaneous decision, and she bought the ring at 4.01pm, party started at 4.00pm, she got there at 4.10pm. The head of college announced that he had some information for everyone, and invited Yulia to the microphone. So we had a big proposal party straight after this party in college. http://www.otago.ac.nz/otagobulletin/postgraduate/otago595692

When and where was the wedding?

The wedding was at the registry office first, as we only planned to have a little wedding with the witnesses, and the rest of the party was at the most beautiful train station on the 11th March, 2016

Why did you choose the venue?

It's a beautiful place to create the home-style atmosphere for our whanau.

The dresses and suits

The bride had a dress from Veronica Maine, which matched my Thomas Applebee tie, Bisley shirt and Connor jeans with the blue polytechnic gown on top (it was also my graduation day).

The caterers

The owner of the Cafe at the train station, our our very good friend (Tamara) is a great cook, our very close friend (Aksana) also helped her on the day, and we cooked something ourselves.

Highlight of the day

Seeing her happy, the glow and aura she had about herself. Her smile... always happy while organising everything to the very last moment, and the joy and love I could see everytime I looked into her eyes.

Our photographer

We asked our friend (Jason Chua) from the Abbey College to take a few pictures of us. We love all the pictures he took, especially those that were taken at the accommodation rented by my family.
